Hello, I’m Garry, a passionate and self-driven learner with a broad skill set in technology and creativity. Over the years, I’ve immersed myself in programming, photography, and system administration, constantly pushing myself to learn new things and take on new challenges.
Programming
I’ve taught myself various programming languages and technologies, my favourite being Python, and am currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science. My education is complemented by hands-on experience working on diverse projects for different clients. This blend of self-learning, academic study, and real-world application has allowed me to sharpen my problem-solving skills and adapt to various technological environments. While I’m still building my career, I’m enthusiastic about continuing to grow in software development and collaborating on innovative projects.
Photography
Photography has been a passion of mine since childhood but I only started taking it seriously from last year, during which I’ve self-studied various concepts and techniques. I’ve had the pleasure of covering events, applying my growing knowledge of camera operation, lighting, and composition. In addition, I use editing software like Lightroom to bring out the best in my work. Every new project is an opportunity to refine my craft and capture moments that tell a story.
System Administration & Self-Hosting
For over five years, I’ve been diving deep into system administration, focusing on Linux and self-hosting services for better privacy and eliminating my dependency on subscription services. From setting up servers to managing various services, I’ve developed a strong foundation in IT operations. I’ve also worked professionally in an IT department, where I provisioned machines and supported technical needs, further enhancing my skills in maintaining and troubleshooting IT systems.
Why I Do What I Do
I’m driven by curiosity and the desire to create solutions that make a difference—whether through developing software, capturing powerful images, or maintaining efficient systems. The intersection of technology and creativity is where I thrive, and I’m always looking for the next project that allows me to push my boundaries.
